Insurance   As an LPC with a Doctorate degree, I find that sessions with my clients are almost always covered at least in part by their health insurance or employee benefit plan. On a monthly basis, I give clients the paper work needed to submit for reimbursement. It can be helpful to call your insurance company to determine:
                                          • Deductible for mental health coverage
                                          • Reimbursement rate
                                          • Number of outpatients sessions covered per year
If accessing benefits, please keep in mind I would be required to give you a diagnosis (even though this is not the lens through which I see anyone).  Once processed by your insurance company, this would go on your permanent health record and can have an impact on your future insurance rates.   Typically, I am able to find a relatively bland diagnosis and have not personally heard any complaints. That being said, many people opt to pay privately to keep utmost confidentiality.
